Tool guide
Turn a photo into clean vector line art
Upload a photo or picture and get line art you can keep editing. LineSVG traces the picture faithfully: thin line drawings come back as real SVG strokes, while thick or filled artwork stays filled. Use it for portraits, product shots and reference photos that need to become illustration-ready vectors.
- 01
Upload a clear photo
Pick a PNG, JPG or WebP with a well-lit subject and a plain background. Crop tightly to what you want drawn.
- 02
Trace, then redraw if needed
The trace stays faithful to the picture. For a lighter, hand-drawn look, press Redraw as lines to rebuild the photo as line art from the reference.
- 03
Tune the strokes and export
Check the editable-strokes label, adjust width and color, then export SVG or PNG or copy the code.
Tips for better results
- High contrast between subject and background gives the cleanest edges.
- Thin, clear lines give the best trace; busy textures and soft shadows are better handled with Redraw as lines.
- Keep Editable lines selected when you plan to change line weight later in Illustrator, Figma or Inkscape.
A suitable source image
A head-and-shoulders portrait photographed against a plain wall, sharp focus, even light and no distracting background objects.

What is the difference between tracing and Redraw as lines?
Tracing keeps the picture as it is: thin lines become strokes and filled areas stay filled. Redraw as lines uses the photo as a reference and draws a fresh line-art version, which suits photos with shading or texture.
How do I know how much of the result is editable?
Each result shows a label with the share of editable strokes. A higher share means more of the drawing responds to the width, color and dash controls.
Which formats can I export?
SVG for vector editors, PNG for quick sharing, or copy the SVG code straight into your project. The credit cost per generation is shown next to the button.
